Bad News for Google Play Music lover – Google is now shutting it down, as they are merging it with Youtube Music. Google Play Music was a handy application for making a music library and listening to them. You could listen to either local music or an online music library by subscribing to its various plan. Now Google rolled it out and merged it with Youtube Music, and you can no longer use it. Myself a big fan of this amazing music app, but now I am also really missing it.
While opening Google Play Music, now it prompts this message – ‘Google Play Music is no longer available.’ It also displays the following information – ‘You can still transfer your library, including playlists and uploads, for a limited time.‘
Google Recommendation
Now Google is suggesting it’s user to do the following in case they want to manage their music libraries, and this option is available for a limited period of time as it is rolling out this app-
- Transfer to Youtube Music
- Manage Your Data
If you wish to transfer music library and migrate to Youtube Music, you can click on ‘Transfer to Youtube Music’. But sadly, Youtube music is not available to all countries.
In that case, you need to download your music data and transfer it to other music platforms.
When you choose ‘Manager Your Data,’ you will be able to see multiple options to manage your music data. They are – ‘Download your music library,’ ‘Delete your music library,’ ‘Delete your recommendation history’. So choose the right option from the list for your need.
Note that-, according to Google notice, these manage option is available only for a limited time. Once they roll out the Google Play Music completely, these options will no longer be available, and Google will automatically delete your data.
